This is a maximum intensity clinic designed for serious players entering 7th, 8th and9th grade who want to push their skills to the next level.

Diamond Skills Baseball hires college baseball coaches to serve as guest instructors during this camp. Having college coaches on our staff gives Prospect Camp players a unique opportunity to learn the game of baseball from high level coaches.

During the past 8 years a number of top flight college programs have sent coaches to work at the Prospect Camp including Three time NCAA Division 1 National Champion Cal-State Fullerton and Southeastern Conference powerhouse the University of Florida.

A very low player-to-instructor ratio will ensure that each player receives quality individual instruction and enormous amounts of repetitions, which will help lay the groundwork for baseball success. Combining players who have a strong desire to improve with outstanding coaches and a terrific teaching program makes this a great week of camp.

Click below for information on:

Offensive Fundamentals

Offensive Fundamentals are taught daily. Players are divided into groups and will go through hitting stations including live batting practice on the field, side toss, front toss, batting tee, rope drills, wall drills and eye hand coordination drills.

This is an accelerated teaching program that teaches advanced fundamentals for hitters.

Defensive Fundamentals

Defensive Fundamentals are taught by position. Infielders, Outfielders and Catchers are divided into their respective groups and workout with their positional coaches.

Infielders will cover proper fielding footwork, glove work, throwing mechanics, double play technique and cut off/relay positioning. Infielders will take live ground balls daily with throws to first base and double play turns on the field.

Outfielders will work on drop steps, angles of pursuit, throwing mechanics, cutoffs/relays, communication and will take live fly balls daily.

Catchers will be taught the correct way to block balls and frame pitches as well as proper throwing footwork and arm mechanics.

Pitching Fundamentals

Pitching Fundamentals are offered to all players who are interested in working on this skill. It is done in two groups each day and players who elect to participate may miss some of their baserunning or defensive fundamentals that day.

Pitchers will focus on mechanical fundamentals including balance points, correct arm action and weight transfer during the delivery.

Players will work from both the windup and the stretch.

Baserunning

Baserunning is an important but undertaught skill that many players lack. Players will work on primary and secondary leads at all bases, correct turns at first, second and third base, steal breaks, reading pitchers pick off tendancies, and live reads on ground balls and fly balls from second and third bases.

Coaches Talk

Coaches Talk occurs after lunch everyday.

These are structured talks that allow the college coaches to speak to the players about topics that will help them in their development as players and as people.

This is one of the highlights of each day as the players are given information on a variety of baseball related subjects from top level college coaches.
